WELCOME to the
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Commission
On behalf of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Commission, we invite you to join us for the 44th Annual King Week Celebration in 2026. This year’s theme, “One Community, One Purpose, One Dream: A Call to Action,” honors Dr. King’s vision with the powerful reminder that “unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality.”
Since 1982, our Commission has proudly organized a week-long celebration in the Knoxville area to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Through education, leadership development, and community-centered events, King Week brings people of all ages together in the spirit of unity, justice, equality, and nonviolence.
As we look ahead to King Week 2026, our celebration will begin on Friday, January 2, continue through Wednesday, January 14–19, and culminate on Monday, January 19 with the MLK Memorial Service, held in recognition of the historic inauguration and Dr. King’s enduring vision.
As the largest consortium of MLK events in East Tennessee, we are deeply grateful for the annual support from our community and partners, which has made our observance one of the nation’s most respected King commemorations. We encourage you to join us in celebrating, commemorating, and actively supporting Dr. King’s principles. To further our efforts, please consider serving as an MLK Sponsor—sponsorship information is available for your review.
We invite you to join us in 2026 as we celebrate and commemorate Dr. King’s legacy. We look forward to seeing you. Feel free to Contact Us if we can provide additional assistance or information. Thank you.
We appreciate your support!
